MASTERBLOCK AND BRADSTONE GIVE SCHOOL A HELPING HAND
Children from Ashton Keynes Church of England Primary School, in Wiltshire, got a practical lesson in construction on Thursday 2nd February, courtesy of local companies Masterblock and Bradstone, who have donated large amounts of materials to the school for the construction of its new building.
Locally based Masterblock manufactures a range of concrete blocks which offer cost benefits over brickwork, whilst Bradstone Structural is a leading supplier of reconstituted stone walling and roofing products. Masterblock has donated 600 square metres of blocks for the blockwork element of the new structure. Bradstone Structural supplied 267 square metres of rough dressed walling block for the facing material, as well as cast stone architectural dressings.
Commenting on the donation, the school’s head teacher, Maggie Carleton, said, “We are absolutely delighted with the generous donations from Masterblock and Bradstone Structural. Our new project would not have been made a reality without their help.”
Miles Davies, site manager at Bradstone Structural’s site near South Cerney, visited the school to check on progress of the development. He said, “Playing an active role in the communities where we operate is central to our whole outlook. Therefore we were only too happy to help the school by donating materials for the construction of its new building which will benefit the whole community.”
The building is expected to be completed and ready for occupation by spring 2006.
