BRADSTONE AWARDS INSPIRATIONAL DESIGN
Countryside Properties has won the prestigious Mail On Sunday HomeBuilder Design Awards’ ‘Best Large Housing Development’ sponsored by Bradstone.
The specialist developers of sustainable communities scooped the award for its 82 house development, Abode, in Harlow, Essex, built on privately owned farmland released only to developers who can make a positive contribution the local community. The scheme’s vibrant design provides a very different approach compared with most housing developments, showing how essentially vernacular materials can be used in a contemporary way.
The awards were judged in 14 overall categories by leading names in design and architecture, recognising the innovative and inspirational designs within the house building industry.
Bradstone is the leading name in reconstructed stone and this is the first time it has sponsored the prestigious event.
The Bradstone category judged the overall design layout and landscaping of a scheme of 20+ houses and/or flats, or a completed phase of a larger development, finished since 2003.
Shortlisted were:
Project: Bolnore Village, Parkfield Way, Haywards Heath, West Sussex
HomeBuilder: Crest Nicholson South Ltd
Architects: Omega Partnership
Project: Gainsborough Studios, Poole Street, Hackney, London N1
HomeBuilder: Lincoln Holdings PLC
Architects: Munkenbeck & Marshall Architects
Project: Leybourne Lakes, Leybourne Way, Larkfield, Kent
HomeBuilder: Berkeley Homes Eastern Ltd
Architects: Broadway Malyan
Mark Barter, Commercial Manager for Structural products comments: “We are delighted to have played a part in an awards scheme that recognises the value of innovative architecture and environment in what is generally a very conservative industry and are pleased to award Countryside Properties whose latest development perfectly matches this criteria.”
Trisha Gupta, Director and Group Chief Architect of Countryside Properties adds: “It is immensely gratifying for the company to be awarded for its consistent creativity and design inspiration. I think that it is also important for awards such as these to exist and be supported by the industry- without them, best practice in the sector would go unrecognised and unrewarded.”
“Our thanks go to the organisers and sponsors, such as Bradstone, which supports our award category, and we look forward to next year’s event.”
